Brighton & Hove Motor Club Relaunches Historic Car Show

VC10 2023 HCVS London Brighton Run Set for Nov. 5

Competitive section to start at Hyde Park Corner; 100th anniversary of Sporting Trial class

After a two-year pandemic-enforced break, the HCVS London to Brighton Veteran Car Run will return on Sunday 5 November 2023, with a competitive start from Hyde Park Corner, for the first time since 2019.

Organisers are delighted to announce the relaunch of the popular event, which will see more than 400 pre-1905 cars taking part in a cavalcade to Madeira Drive on Brighton seafront, where they will be displayed to the public.

The Brighton & Hove Motor Club (BHMC) has been running the event since 1930 and is the custodian of the original Emancipation Run, first held in 1896 to celebrate the repeal of the Locomotives on the Highway Act which had restricted the use of motor vehicles in the UK.

This year's event will be the 61st HCVS London to Brighton Veteran Car Run and will see a return to the traditional competitive start from Hyde Park Corner.

The first car is due to leave at 7.01am, with the last car expected to arrive in Brighton at around 4.30pm.

There will be a number of new features for this year's event, including a special class for cars that have never taken part in the Run before.

There will also be a special award for the car that has traveled the furthest to take part in the event.

The BHMC is best known as the organizer of the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, the world's longest-running motoring event. The club also organizes a range of other motoring events throughout the year, including the Brighton Speed Trials and the Brighton & Hove Motor Show.
